What a Plan Leaves Out

Knowing the limits is just as useful as knowing the list. These are the situations I flag before you choose a plan.

  • Problems that were present before coverage began
  • Damage from storms, floods, fire or pests
  • Dents, scratches and other cosmetic wear
  • Upgrades or code changes that go beyond a repair
  • Items that were never installed or maintained properly

Unsure where your item lands? Send me its name and what it is doing, and I will check it against the plan wording with you.

More Coverage Questions

No. Plans look after items that work properly when coverage begins, so an issue that started earlier usually falls outside it.

The plan provider assigns a licensed local technician. I explain how that assignment works for the plan you choose.

Most plans include a set service fee per request. I point out where that fee is listed so it never catches you off guard.

Many plans offer add on options for extras like a pool or a well pump. I help you see which ones are available.

Describe what you notice, such as a sound, a leak or no heat. You do not need to know the failed part.
